    Executive Director

    Jennifer has been working at Weinberg Community for nearly 13 years. She began in 2003 as the Personal Care Manager, was appointed Assistant Director in 2008 and Director in 2010. She received her undergraduate degree in Health Administration, specializing in Gerontology, and has a Master’s Degree from the University of St. Francis in Health Services Administration. Jennifer has been working with older adults in residential communities for the past 20 years and loves what she does!

  • Emily Mysel

    Friend Center Manager/Social Worker, LCSW

    Emily Mysel is a social worker at Weinberg Community for Senior Living, the manager of Friend Center for Memory Care and Adult Day Services, and co-facilitator of its Dementia Support Group. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Miami University of Ohio and received her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Jane Addams School of Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She also serves on CJE SeniorLife’s Dementia Committee. Emily’s passion for her work, combined with a commitment to providing older adults and their families with the respect, compassion and dignity they so deserve, is founded in her enduring love for her grandparents.

  • Michelle Bernstein

    Outreach Liaison

    Michelle has over 18 years of marketing experience in the eldercare industry. She has worked in assisted living, independent living and skilled care settings. Her passion is to ensure that older adults get the support and resources they need to maintain their independence, while enhancing their lives with socialization, person-centered care and stimulating programs. Michelle is a member of the Highland Park Hospital Auxiliary Board, the Alzheimer’s Association North Shore Committee, EPWNG, Breathe Deep North Shore LUNGevity Committee and a member of Continuity of Care.

  • Mary Brennan

    Nursing Manager

    Mary Brennan has worked at Weinberg Community as Nurse Manager since August 2004. She began her career working with older adults in 1990 and specialized in Home Health. She came to CJE in 2003 as a Clinical Coordinator in our Home Health program. Prior to that she was a Clinical Supervisor at Advocate Home Health. Mary has always enjoyed caring for individuals in long-term care, and initially focused on the complex needs of dialysis residents. She likes getting to know her patients and all of their different personalities. Mary graduated from Loyola University with a B.S.N.

  • Marci Balonick

    Personal Care Manager

    Marci Balonick is the Personal Care Manager and also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Prior to coming to CJE, Marci was Director of Social Services and Discharge Planner at a nursing home in Chicago. Marci received a B.A. in Journalism at The University of Wisconsin-Madison, and here master’s of Social Work from Loyola University Chicago.

  • Jim Skoufes

    Director of Facility Operations

    Jim is the Director of Facility Operations at Weinberg Community for Senior Living. Jim has over 30 years’ experience in facility management operations. Jim has worked in hospital health care, assisted Living, and Skilled care settings. Prior to joining the Weinberg Team, Jim was Director of Facility Management Operations, for 10 years at Lutheran Home and services, A Lutheran Life Community. Jim has numerous Certifications, and holds a Stationary Engineer License. Jim is a member of the National Power Engineers Association, National Fire Prevention Association and is a certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP).

    Leasing Associate

    Elaine has seventeen years of experience at Weinberg, joining the team two months before the building opened in 1997. Earlier in her career, she was a teacher in the Chicago Public School System and a realtor on the north shore.

    Director of Dining

    Ken Johnston is the Director of Dining Services and has worked in kitchens since the age of fourteen. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park (NY), his previous restaurant experience includes the Waldorf Astoria Hotel and the Windows on the World Restaurant (World Trade Centers, NY).

  • Arlene Minzer

    Life Enrichment Manager

    Arlene has been working in her current role as the Life Enrichment Manager since 2000 at Weinberg Community for Senior Living. She develops innovative programming that engages residents in meaningful activities, such as the creative arts, which create a myriad of opportunities for socialization, mental stimulation and healthy living. Arlene graduated with a B.S. in Occupational Therapy from the University of Illinois in Champaign.

  • Charlotte Weidman

    Assistant Dining Director

    Dedicated to creating an outstanding dining experience for seniors, Charlotte was welcomed into the CJE SeniorLife “family” in 1981 when she opened the kosher kitchen at Lieberman Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Skokie. She then opened the Weinberg Community kosher kitchen in 1997. Charlotte has her license in food service and nutrition and a separate license for sanitation. One of her many responsibility includes external kosher catering for many community events such as Bar/Bat Mitzvah’s, corporate meetings and holiday events.
